You gotta remember… those kind of guys are really desperate and probably creeps the girl won’t like him anyway. She’s probably just being polite and waiting for him to leave. Just be cool about it and join in the conversation, maybe make a few jokes but concentrate on the girl and maintain eye contact so she will focus more on you than the rest. Slowly the other guy will take a hint and leave you two alone. I did this in college and it worked great. Good luck!
